As reported by Deadline, Netflix will add to its growing roster of anime titles. Aside from Hunter x Hunter, beloved rom-com Ouran High School Host Club and dark fantasy Claymore will be available on Sept. 1. First adapted in 1999 before being rebooted in 2011, Hunter x Hunter aired on Nippon TV until 2014 with 148 episodes. The first 38 episodes of the 2011 series will be available to watch in 104 countries, including Finland, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE. Ouran High School Host Club will be available in 190 countries, while Claymore will be available to watch in 136 countries.
The other titles will be making their debut on the platform later. The entirety of the Death Note series (Death Note, Death Note Relight: Visions of a God, Death Note Relight: L's Successors) will be available to watch in 14 countries. The first two seasons of shojo romance series From Me to You or Kimi ni Todoke, the 1997 series Berserk, sci-fi horror anime Parasyte -the maxim-, shojo classic Nana, boxing series Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! and, lastly, thriller Monster will all be available for fans to watch.
Netflix has seen a considerable uptick in its subscribers' interest in anime, with the platform reporting that its audience for anime grew by over 100% in 2020. The streaming giant reported in the first half of 2022 that more than half of its members were watching anime. At the time, the platform promised to add 40 titles that would include new and returning series.
